Yo Sakib.

As some of you may already know, I cycled from the venerable town of Goslar, central Germany, to the northernmost point of Denmark proper, Skagen this summer. From there I cycled to my parents' place in Berlin via Copenhagen. Took me 16 days in total for about 2100 kilometers, distances covered by ferry not included.
The total cost of the trip was about 250€. Half of it was spent on ferry service and one night a motel. I slept whereever I felt safe. I didn't bring a tent.

So, instead of letting the pictures I took go to waste, I'll dump them here. Feel free to ask any questions.

Starting in Goslar, near the Harz mountains. One of the worst days as far as weather was concerned. I also got a flat tire on day one but it would turn out to be the only one over the course of the trip.

I don't what that is.

The second night I slept on a bench on a playground in Norderstett, a neighbor town of Hamburg. Apparently I was sleepwalking that night, as I have no other reasonable explanation for how my right sock found its way in the nearby sandbox.

Nah, the most expensive ferry was from Jylland to Sjaelland, about 45 eurobucks. The ferry from Denmark back to Germany was only 7. Apart from these big two, there were several other smaller ferries which add up. The 120€ (perhaps closer to 150€ actually) also include one night in a motel.

>>159120
>how could you even sleep at night?
Sleeping pad + sleeping bag are czy enough. After pedaling countless hours,
>where did you charge your ipad?
I don't use apple products. For my GPS device, I had plenty of spare batteries.
>and were those things really on that bench?

Suddenly, Denmark.

Yeap, that's it. There wasn't even a border sign or anything.

It took me quite some time to find out what a "Knallert" is.

Everything in Denmark is ridiculously expensive. As a rule of thumb, if it's 1 euro in Germany, you can expect to pay 2 in Denmark. 15 Danish crowns are about 2 euros. Pic related is an excellent offer by Danish standards since normally a 1.25 liter bottle of Danish Coca Cola costs about 3 euros in stores. You can get 1.5 liters for half the price in Germany.

Welp, I sleepwalked again that night. I slept on a park bench again but woke up under a carport of an old couple's property. I even remember having rung their bell in the middle of the night, thinking the main heroine of the anime Denpa Onna to Seishun no Otoko lived inside that house. I must have been dreaming while I was awake simultaneously or something. Weird stuff. The granny who woke me up didn't speak any English, but I could understand that she wanted to invite me for breakfast. However, her husband was against the idea, so I quickly took my leave.

Place to sleep for the night. It started to rain in the middle of the night which resulted in me going full retard and throwing my sleeping bag into some nearby bushes, presumably while sleepwalking again. I later came to my senses, picked up the wet sleeping bag and went to sleep once more.

Speaking of sleep, that's precisely that I'm going to do now. I'll dumb the other half tomorrow.

Pretty much this.

>Other precipitating factors to sleepwalking are those factors which increase the slow wave sleep stage. These most commonly include sleep deprivation, fever, and excessive tiredness.
I pulled two all-nighters in a row so that's pretty likely.

The planning basically boiled down to creating the route, which is easy and great fun on gpsies.com. I didn't need to buy any additional equipment since this wasn't my first big bike trip. I want to do at least one big bike trip every year, upping the ante by 1000 kilometers every time. And since my parents wanted me to visit them anyway, I decided to take a detour to them via Denmark this summer. It's my dream to do a 10k Balkan tour some day. soon in a couple of years maybe never ;_;

There's not a single thing wrong with my seat. In fact, it's the most comfy saddle I've ever had.

I tried to pull off the last 100 kilometers in one go but failed miserably. My mind said "Do it faggot", my body "Stop it faggot". So I listened to my body and spent the last night on a graveyard. I was warmly welcomed by my parents on the next day.

what bike / bike parts would u recommend for long drives

  Germany Sakib No. 166055

>>166042
Anything that you're comfortable with and suits your needs will do. My bike doesn't even have gears. Naturally, you'll probably want to (and you should) have gears on your bike but I like the simplicity. Buying a Rohloff hub for €800 would be the other end of the spectrum. In general, you can get a new, decent trekking bike from a reputable manufacturer for €600 upwards but if you can ride your grandpa's old pre-war singlespeed for hours non-stop you might as well use that.

Things I'd wholeheartedly recommend to anyone regardless of his/her personal preferences:

The Brooks B17 is a really comfy saddle and easily prevents physical butthurt. Get one if you can afford it.
Ortlieb backpacks. They are internationally recognized as the best backpacks around and I can personally vouch for their quality.
A handlebar bag is absolutely essential. Extremely handy for small, valuable stuff you don't want to leave on your bike when you enter a store or something. I use an Ortlieb one but others are good too.
A GPS device. An incredibly neat and useful gadget but some models are expensive. I bought a used Oregon 450. I wouldn't want to miss it. Definitely worth the one-time investment if you think you'll do more than one long-distance bike trip in your life.

  Italy Sakib No. 166059

>>166055

>Brooks B17

I might try that. Unfortunately with regular saddles muh dick get numb after a while and this could lead to erectile disfuntion after a while. it's not like I'll ever need my dick for sexing's pourposes but I still have a little hope ;____;
